Lauren Hall - AYD  PresidentPresident – Lauren Hall (president at arlingtonyoungdems.org) A native Eastern Long Islander and 10-year resident of Arlington, Lauren has worked for Democrats in collaboration with Arlington Democrats and Arlington Young Democrats since 2004. After years of observation and participation as an Arlington Democrats’ precinct captain and AYD volunteer, Lauren helped bring the 2010 AYDs to statewide acclaim as their Vice President, and in 2011, co-chaired the Arlington Democratic Joint Campaign. Lauren is a 2002 graduate of Cornell University and works for an environmental consulting firm. When not politicking, she enjoys playing tennis, bicycling, jogging on the beach…and relaxing under the sun with a copy of Politico.


Vice President – Gordon Simonett (vp at arlingtonyoungdems.org) Born in Trinidad, West Indies, Gordon moved to Michigan at the age of 8 and quickly learned what cold weather was all about.  Gordon graduated from American University in 2004, earning his BA in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government.  While at AU, Gordon was elected Treasurer of the AU College Democrats, and served as Class Representative and subsequently, Speaker of the AU Student General Assembly.  Following graduation, Gordon worked as a Legislative Assistant to DC Shadow Senator Paul Strauss.  Gordon also was an active member of his local Young Democrat chapter in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he served as Treasurer; in 2006, he was awarded the chapter’s Young Democrat of the Year award.  Gordon has been a member of the Arlington Young Democrats since December 2007, and was elected President in 2010, having held appointed positions as Deputy Membership Director and Membership Director in years prior.  Gordon was the recipient of the Arlington Young Democrats Young Democrat of the Year Award in 2010.   @gordonsimonett

Democratic Party Representative – Stephanie Clifford (partyrep at arlingtonyoungdems.org) Stephanie is a native of Janesville, WI and has lived in Arlington for 8 years now.  Professionally, Stephanie has worked as an Associate and Director of Special Events at the Podesta Group, and was the Chief of Staff for John McLaughlin at Oliver Productions, where she helped coordinate all aspects of Mr. McLaughlin’s public affairs television programs – The McLaughlin Group and John McLaughlin’s One on One. She was also the Director of Marketing at Eurotech, Ltd.  Currently, Stephanie works for National Public Radio.  Stephanie served as Vice President of the Arlington Young Democrats in 2011, and also was a candidate for the House of Delegates that same year.  Stephanie was  awarded the Young Democrat of the Year Award in 2011. @sdixclifford


Finance Director – Ben Branch (finance at arlingtonyoungdems.org)

Ben currently serves as a Senior Policy Advisor for Congressman Gregory Meeks from New York.  Previously, he held positions as Manager of Government Affairs at the Telecommunications Industry Association and as Legislative Director for former Congressman Albert Wynn from Maryland. A native Virginian, he graduated from Old Dominion University in 2003 and began working in politics as an intern for former U.S. Senator Charles Robb from VA.

Political Director – Andrea Carlile (politics at arlingtonyoungdems.org)

Political Action Director, Andrea Carlile is a native of Chatham, Illinois. Andrea moved to Arlington in the summer of 2009 after completing her Masters in Communication Studies from South Dakota State University. She works as communications specialist for a government contractor.


Outreach Director – Daniel Broder (outreach at arlingtonyoungdems.org) Daniel was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from The College of Wooster in May of 2011 with a B.A. in Communication Studies and a double minor in Political Science and English. He moved to Arlington in June of 2011 and has been active in the community since. Daniel was a senior aide to Delegate Bob Brink’s successful 2011 re-election campaign (Virginia, 48th District) and is Delegate Brink’s Legislative Assistant for the 2012 Virginia Legislative Session. He also serves as the Director of Government Relations for Solar Roadways, Inc. In addition to politics, Daniel loves sports, movies, music and meeting new people.


Community Service Director – Nicole Davies (community at arlingtonyoungdems.org)

Nicole Davies is from Rome, New York and moved to Virginia in 2006.  She graduated from University at Albany, SUNY with a B.A. in Political Science.  She has been a member of AYD since 2007.


Programs Director – Jennifer Bodie (programs at arlingtonyoungdems.orgJen Bodie Jennifer is a native of the Northern Virginia area, born in Arlington, living in Fairfax for many years, until moving back to Arlington in 2008. Her undergraduate degree is in Spanish from James Madison University and her graduate degree is from The George Washington University in Event and Meeting Management. Her love for politics and justice has been fostered since birth and being raised in a union household. From an early age she attended political events, rallies, met local political leaders and even assisted with campaigns. Jennifer is well aware that 2012 is a critical year for Democrats on local, state, and federal levels and hopes to help Arlington Young Democrats anyway she can! In her “spare” time, she enjoys exercise, eating, traveling, music, and meeting new people.


Immediate Past President – Jamie Lockhart (pastpresident at arlingtonyoungdems.org) Jamie is a proud life-long Virginian, born and raised in the conservative town of Midlothian and now a resident of the very blue Arlington. A magna cum laude graduate of James Madison University and the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership’s College Leader’s Program, Jamie is passionate about engaging young people in the political process.  She caught the campaign bug in 2005 when she interned for Tim Kaine’s gubernatorial campaign,  and since then, Jamie has volunteered for numerous campaigns at all levels and served on the executive board of the Virginia Young Democrats.  Most recently, Jamie managed Pamela Danner’s campaign for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 34th District. Previously Jamie spent two and a half years working as Director of E-Communications and a Legislative Assistant for U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO).  When not following legislation or knocking on doors, Jamie enjoys group fitness classes, vegetarian cooking, cheering on her favorite sports teams, new media and tutoring with Horton’s Kids.  She hopes to see you out there in the field! @jlock
